Join us for a discussion among parents about keeping your relationship on track after having a baby. How can you stay close and reduce stress? How can you make more time for each other and share childcare/household duties? Bring your questions and stories to share!

Jennifer Cochran is a licensed massage therapist at Ping Fitness Center on the campus of Ohio University and at the Athens Wellness Cooperative. Jennifer offers a therapeutic blend of Swedish and deep tissue massage, movement and myofascial release. A graduate of Otterbein College, Ohio University and Hocking College, Jennifer was drawn to massage therapy as a second career by the desire to help people heal their bodies and minds. While pregnant with her first child, Jennifer discovered the value of massage and osteopathic manipulation in relieving some of the aches and pains often associated with pregnancy. She is experienced in working on pregnant women and new mothers to relieve pain and discomfort related to pregnancy and postpartum issues.

PREGNANCY LOSS SUPPORT GROUP

From 7:00 to 8:00pm

O'Bleness Hospital, lower level room 6

This support group is for anyone affected by pregnancy loss, including moms, dads, family members, and friends. These free groups are offered as a time of sharing and support, and are facilitated by a counseling professional. Catie Mehl, LCCE, CD(DONA), BDT(DONA), CLC, will be joining us for a presentation on the benefits, risks, and trade-offs of epidural use, as well as reasons why a woman might chose to use an epidural during her labor.

CEREMONY HONORING PREGNANCY AND INFANT LOSS

The Athens Birth Circle will hold a ceremony at the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Memorial Bench at Sells Park, to honor and celebrate the short lives of babies lost through miscarriage, stillbirth or in infancy. This year’s ceremony will include readings and a time of sharing. The event is open to the public, and children are welcome to attend. FAREWELL PARTY (POTLUCK) FOR DELPHINE SILVERMOON

Midwife Delphine Silvermoon is moving, and we are throwing a potluck party to say goodbye!  Please bring a dish to share, and beverages for your family.  We will have a journal for people to write in (and/or paste pictures), a circle time for sharing what Delphine has meant to you, and we will collect beads to string into a necklace for her to take on her journey.  Please RSVP by responding via email to molly.wales@yahoo.com, and spread the word to anyone who might be interested.  The basic agenda for the evening will be:  eat from 5:30-6:30pm, share from 6:30-8pm.
