We have decided to add a "sling library" to The Birth Circle's lending library, which will allow you to check out one of a variety of slings for a month at a time, for a $3 fee (the fee will go toward a fund to purchase new slings as styles and needs change). That way you can test them out to see what works best for you and your baby, before spending the money to buy one! In order to get started, we need SLING DONATIONS. So, if you have an old Maya Wrap, Ergo, Moby, etc., just email molly.wales@yahoo.com and we'll come pick it up.

Creating a recipe book

PLEASE HELP THE BIRTH CIRCLE

We are trying to create a recipe book for Pregnant and Child Rearing Women and Their Families, to sell as a fund-raiser for The Birth Circle. This book will be a collaboration of local and regional women, families and businesses, and will include photos along with the recipes. So far we have only 18 recipes, and we need AT LEAST 35 MORE to go forward with the project. So, let us know what you ate when you were pregnant or while nursing, or what you cooked for your partner, or share an old family recipe! Previously published recipes are OK. If you can help by contributing a recipe, or two, or three (!) send an email to timisingley@yahoo.com with the subject as Mom's Cookbook. We really want to see this through, but we can't do it without you!

Thanks to our April Evening Sponsor, Green Edge Gardens! We at Green Edge seek innovative ways of expanding the availability of organic produce to the residents of both Athens County and the greater Columbus area. This Summer 2009 CSA season promises to be especially exciting. We are thrilled to be working with three partners for this CSA: Cherry Orchards, Village Bakery & Cafe, and Snowville Creamery & thanks to them we are able to offer a seasonal share that not only includes our delicious organic vegetables, but also fruit, bread and milk on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. January Meeting: Deciding Whether or not to have more Children and Preparing for Siblings

Join us on Wednesday, January 28th from 7-8:30pm at the Athens library for a discussion about the choice to have subsequent kids, and how to prepare your child/children if you do. This is a particularly difficult decision for some, especially in these times of economic decline and population growth. In the second half of the meeting, we'll share stories and tips for helping your family prepare for the arrival of a new baby.
